The context
Aureus Energy helps small renewable generators across the UK secure the best value for their electricity — through power offtake agreements and certificate aggregation. The market is technical, the buyer is cautious, and the site had to build trust before it ever pitched the service.
The problem
- Buyers here are asset owners — wind, solar, hydro — sophisticated and skeptical of consultancy pitches.
- The category is jargon-heavy: PPAs, ROCs, REGOs, offtake, aggregation, portfolio management. Copy has to be technical enough to prove expertise but calm enough to feel approachable.
- Simple lead-gen sites look under-qualified for six-figure PPA conversations; heavy corporate sites look slow and stuffy on mobile.
- Buyers want to understand what they’re signing before they enquire — so the site has to educate first, sell second.
What we built
- Corporate-trust hero: quiet blue + white palette, understated skyline photography of turbines and rural grid infrastructure — no stock renewable clichés.
- Service pillars structured by asset-owner intent — power offtake, certificate aggregation, portfolio management — each with its own SEO surface.
- Lightweight enquiry flow that captures asset type and generation size upfront — no long forms, no CRM sales-y language.
- Insight section for regulatory context (Ofgem changes, certificate scheme updates) — signals ongoing expertise without a blog treadmill.
- Case-first proof: portfolio of clients they support, with anonymised metrics where confidentiality allows.
Technical decisions
- WordPress on managed UK hosting for GDPR data residency.
- Custom theme with a restrained corporate-trust design language — no page-builder bloat.
- ACF-driven service pillar templates so new insight posts drop into the same rhythm.
- Structured data for Organization + Service.
- GDPR-compliant enquiry form + cookie consent aligned with UK ICO standards.
The outcome
A site that talks to asset owners on their terms — trust-heavy on the surface, technical enough in the copy to prove the operators know what they’re doing, and lightweight enough to move a first-touch enquiry through in one screen.
